The design team is commended for skillfully resolving the complexities of a metro station entrance brief in a site with layered histories and stories, creating a place of calm at the juncture of multiple circulation routes. The success of this project comes from the team’s ability to create a seamless transition around the station’s entrance by deftly stiching into the adjoining public spaces – the urban streetscape, the biodiverse parklands and the constructed sandstone cove. Cultural and historic stories are layered thoughtfully within the public ream, allowing the stories of this place to be appreciated. While primarily a place for movement, the public domain also creates a generous area for passive enjoyment of Nawi Cove.
